Okay, I have completed my first and last one color puzzle. I have said more than once I had no interest in doing one. Then I came across this little one and thought I could do it, so why not broaden my repertoire? My favorite puzzle designs are those with a central interest and a textured or shaded background. A lot of 1000 piece puzzles I’ve done could have 250 pieces of background, so it’s something I’m used to and usually enjoy despite the possible challenge. But this puzzle certainly convinced me it’s why jigsaw puzzles have pictures! Watching an illustration come together is quite rewarding. Hours and hours and hours of looking at nothing but piece shapes was not! It was so repetitive I was quite bored by the whole thing. But I do judge time spent as a measure of difficulty, and 250 pieces felt like it took forever, so I’ll give it a hard rating.
Quality: Admirable. There are things to admire. The attractive, sturdy, 6” square box and every thing in it is sustainable. Just two easy to peal clear stickers hold it together. An enlarged portion of the illustration, with minimal signage, covers the top and sides of the box top. Yes, it was just white. The box bottom has a small complete image, Yes, it was a white rectangle. Inside is a resealable paper bag of pieces and a huge poster. Yes, it was just white. The solid pieces have a matte finish, and a black core and backing. There was some black puzzle dust. Piece fit was loose, but still amazing! It was immediately clear when a correct piece just fell into place. All of the traditional shapes were represented. None of the pieces were damaged or together uncut. There were no false fits. No pieces were missing. The completed puzzle could not be picked up.
Getting started: Find the edge pieces and sort by color. I pulled the edge pieces as I was lining up the rest of the pieces by shape and direction. Clearly the easiest sorting possible!
Construction: I built the frame first and just got to it. There’s not much to tell. Sometimes there would be clues enough to eliminate some piece shapes from the search - clues like what I call arrows or flags, or 2 knobs at right angles on the same piece - but sometimes I was forced to look through almost all of them. The last 50 pieces went, comparatively, very quickly. That was fun only because it was almost over. It was finally complete. Never again!
Final thoughts: Is such a puzzle “challenging”? I suppose. I’d rather reserve that for an interesting illustration where the pieces are giving me the visual information beyond shape to find where it goes. I’ve taken hours on those puzzle too, but as I said at the start, there is real pleasure in seeing a picture come together. This one was just work, and for all my effort I got a white rectangle. No thanks, just not for me. Blue Kazoo had 1000 piece solid White, Red and Black puzzles in their Classic collection but did not reissue them when they went to sustainable. In their beginning in the early 1960’s, Springbok made a lot of round, one color puzzles. There are no solid color puzzles in their collection now. Just sayin’.
My grades for WHITE: Quality A-, fun Factor C

Did the White 250 piece for my first Impossible Puzzle. It was not horrible and it gives me an idea on what the 1000 piece Impossible Puzzles will be like. Fits good and went together nicely. I look forward to my next Bluekazoo puzzle from my collection and to many more new puzzles from them in the future.

With a bit of a water mishap I finished this puzzle in 11 hours. Even with many pieces becoming water logged they still sustained its integrity to the very end. Love the quality of these puzzles. Thanks Blue Kazoo

Challenging as hell, but so much fun!
